A consultation and opinion-sharing meeting was held in support of Mahbul Alam, who has announced his candidacy for the position of Ward Member in Ward No. 6 of Sarfabhata Union (No. 8), South Rangunia, Rangunia Upazila, ahead of the upcoming Union Parishad elections.

The meeting took place on Friday afternoon (October 30) at the grounds of Sipahi Para Government Primary School, with residents from different walks of life attending to express their views and show support for Mahbul Alam, a prominent social worker and president of the Ward BNP.

The meeting was moderated by Gias Uddin and Faruk Ahmed, Joint Conveners of the Sarfabhata Union Swechchhasebak Dal, while expatriate Azgar Ali presided over the event. The keynote speech was delivered by Mahbul Alam, President of Ward No. 6 BNP and a prospective Ward Member candidate.

Special guests included Abdul Mannan, President of the Rangunia Upazila CNG Auto-Rickshaw Workers' Party; Shahinur Begum, President of the Upazila Mohila Dal; Hassan, Senior Member of the Chattogram North District Swechchhasebak Dal; Obaidullah, President of the Sarfabhata Union Sramik Dal; Belal Uddin, General Secretary of the same organization; former BNP leader and expatriate Absar; Gias, President of Ward No. 9 Jubo Dal; Abul Bayan, General Secretary of Ward No. 4 BNP; Jahangir Alam, President of Ward No. 2 BNP; and Jubo Dal leader Jahangir. Also present were Haji Ahmad Sikder, Alam, Omar Faruk, Abdur Subhan and Amin Sharif.

During the discussion, speakers said they had known Mahbul Alam closely for many years and were familiar with his personal character, political involvement and social activities. They expressed the view that he could play an important role in the overall development of the area and in safeguarding the rights of ordinary residents.

The speakers highlighted his long-standing efforts to improve neglected roads and infrastructure, build a society free from drugs and middlemen, and establish good governance. They also claimed that despite facing repeated harassment and persecution over his involvement in BNP politics, he had remained committed to his party's ideals.

They further said that his continued presence alongside ordinary people had helped him gain the confidence of residents from different sections of society. Expressing their full support for Mahbul Alam in the upcoming election, they called on everyone to work together for the development of the ward.

In his speech, Mahbul Alam thanked the attendees and expressed his gratitude for their support. He said, "I am one of your own. My main goal is to ensure justice for every individual, guarantee access to government services and benefits, and transform Ward No. 6 into an ideal and modern ward."

The meeting was attended by local dignitaries and residents from different walks of life. At the end of the programme, a special prayer was offered, seeking the overall development, well-being and peace of the ward.
